Personality Spectrum: from assessment to paid report
A self-reflection product that turns 50 responses into a four-dimension spectrum, then lets users decide whether a detailed report is useful before paying.
The product problem
Many personality tests ask users to pay before they understand what they will receive. This project separates the free result from the optional premium narrative, with clear language about what the assessment can and cannot establish.
Implementation
- Fifty questions cover four preference dimensions, with a five-position answer scale.
- The browser calculates the free summary and ties are represented explicitly rather than forced into a conventional four-letter type.
- Stripe handles checkout. Server-side verification ties a completed payment to the corresponding answer set before delivering the premium report.
- Reports expand on preferences, communication patterns and practical actions. The user can save or print a searchable PDF.
- Educational pages explain the scoring method and provide background for readers who want to understand the approach before taking the assessment.
Stack and design decisions
TypeScript, React, Cloudflare Pages and Functions, Stripe and browser-side state for the free experience. Payment authorization is checked on the server; the client cannot unlock premium content simply by changing a browser value.
The assessment is explicitly presented as a self-reflection framework, not a clinically validated psychological test. This distinction informs the interface and reporting language.
What this demonstrates for clients
Multi-step forms, user-specific reports, secure payment verification, digital product delivery, educational SEO content and a clear separation between preview and premium access.
